Abstract


The human development index is an important indicator in measuring the level of welfare of an area based on life expectancy, income and education level. The success of human development can be judged from a superior society based on quality and quantity in terms of knowledge and a decent life. The achievement of human development as a whole in the Regency / City of North Sumatra varies widely where there are certain aspects of development that have succeeded and several aspects of development that have failed. This study discusses the K-Means Clustering Analysis in the Regency / City Grouping in North Sumatra Province based on the Human Development Index. The data source of this research was obtained from the data from the North Sumatra Central Statistics Agency. The data used in this study are data from 2015-2019 which consists of 33 districts / cities. The cluster process is divided into 2 (two) clusters, namely the high-level cluster and the low-level cluster. It is hoped that the results of this study can contribute to the local government of North Sumatra so that the districts / cities that are included in the low cluster get more attention and increase future economic growth.
